Results - 2020 Bay of Plenty Secondary School Ki o Rahi Regionals

The 2020 Bay of Plenty Secondary School Ki o Rahi Regionals were held on Wednesday 26th February 2020 at Rotorua Girls High School.

This year the Bay of Plenty region introduced a Division 2 grade for all teams new to the sport and/or not looking to qualify for the 2020 National competition in Waitangi.

Division 2 results were as follows:

1st - Rotorua Girls & Rotorua Boys Rua

2nd - Whakatane High School

3rd - Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Koutu

4th - Te Wharekura o Ngāti Rongomai

Reports from the day say it was a scorching hot day and fortunately for both players and supporters there were lots of trees around.

In Division 1, results were as follows:

1st - Rotorua Girls & Rotorua Boys Tahi

2nd - Western Heights High School

3rd - Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Kura Kokiri

4th - Opotiki College

5th - Te Wharekura o Ngāti Rongomai Tuakana

This makes it 2 from 2 for Rotorua Girls and Boys team since the inception of this tournament, they’re proving to be a very strong school and according to Bay of Plenty Sport are also helping with the growth of the game in the region!

Awesome to see their neighbours Western Heights High School also qualify for Nationals, here’s hoping they attend and that the two schools can do some preparation with one another prior to the tournament!
