As students all around the country start to make the way back to school for 2021, some are hoping that covid doesn’t return, some are hoping it does return, but most if not all we be hoping it doesn’t interfere with the 2021 NZ Secondary School Kī o Rahi Nationals.

Students, teachers and whānau all missed out on this awesome event in 2021 as the country went into its first ever lockdown, we’ve learned a lot since then so here’s hoping we can make it through the year, at least til the end of April anyway!

In 2021, the NZ Secondary School Kī o Rahi Nationals are back at Waitangi in Te Tai Tokerau.

Te Tii Marae and the whānau from the North will be our hosts.

4 schools per region have been confirmed to be able to attend, meaning this could possibly be one of the largest Nationals ever.

In 2019 we had around 34 teams compete, over the upcoming months we will delve further into some of those teams to provide a bit of a build up towards the event. If your team is heading to Nationals in 2021, please let us know, we’d be keen to feature you in our blogs!

For now, check out the rules and registration information just in case your team has not entered yet.

Remember you should have qualified from your last regionals, however, if this didn’t happen due to covid it would pay to talk to your local Kī o Rahi organising group about whether you will be able to head to Nationals!
